Setting a goal is easy — it’s following through that’s the hard part. Grand plans can slip our minds while our motivation can easily get lost in the everyday mix of life.

That’s why setting your goals in writing is critical to your success. According to one 2015 study, simply committing your goals to writing will make you 42 percent more likely to complete them. And while that’s a decent start, we’d like to get you closer than that.

To help with your mission, we’ve put together this printable goal-setting worksheet that not only focuses on what you want and how you’ll accomplish it, but also why you want to get it down. Starting a habit or dedicating yourself to change is a lot of hard work. Seeing how your goal fits into the big picture will help carry you through when those inevitable obstacles arise.

For those tough moments ahead, we urge you to keep this worksheet handy as you move forward to conquer your goal. Now get to it!
