Caitlin Dyer, 33, Brisbane, Australia
Occupation: Mother; registered nurse; HypnoBirthing educator
Purpose: “To teach mothers all I can about pregnancy, birth, motherhood, and themselves.”

“Having my baby made me realize what I was capable of,” Caitlin says. “I was on this unbelievable high, and I felt like I could accomplish anything. And then, of course, I didn't sleep for about a year.”

Physically and emotionally exhausted from taking care of her newborn, she found herself thinking, “There must be more. I felt unsettled. I chopped off my hair. I knew that I had to change some aspect of my life but I couldn't figure out what it was.”

When a HypnoBirthing practitioner training opportunity came her way, she realized it fit her passion for empowering mothers, yet she hesitated. Finally, her husband gave her a gentle push: “He knew that was exactly what I wanted to do and what I needed to do. And he also knew that I was doubting myself and my situation.”

Now a certified educator for HypnoBirthing (a natural childbirth method that uses self-hyponosis techniques) and soon-to-be accredited doula and lactation consultant, Caitlin says, “once you have direction, you see opportunity everywhere.”
