Who doesn't crave respect? It validates that we matter. Alas, we don't always get it. And sometimes, we don't actually need it. Let's say the conductor on your train isn't courteous. It's tactless, yes, but is it more important than your being able to ride the train? Of course not. When the success can be measured more by deed than regard, we try to remember that meaningful respect can be found elsewhere.
